Cheap Contemporary Design Tips

What is so great about inexpensive contemporary furniture

Posted by cheapcontemporaryfurniture in October 26, 2009

Sometimes you can find it and sometimes you can’t. Inexpensive contemporary furniture is a rare thing to find – well with high quality at least. The biggest problem that has been with modern furniture is the fact that they are usually at the high end of the price range. This is because it has become a fashion thing – even if they don’t cost much more to make, you are going to have to pay or the “good looks” and these might end up adding a zero at the end of the price tag. For some people this is okay, but for a lot of people it is important to find inexpensive contemporary furniture to be able to something like this in their home.

Inexpensive contemporary furnitureWell this is a bit exaggerated as you might notice, but the real problem is that good modern furniture can be hard to find. Well there are companies like IKEA that are offering a large lineup of cheap furniture that are quite contemporary, but if you are familiar with their products you will know that they are not top quality. The cheaper pieces are what I like to call “replaceable” meaning that I think that the whole point of the piece is to be replaced at least once in a year. It seems that they are designing furniture to be thrown away in a while and to get new ones – this suits well for people who get easily bored in their current design, but in my opinion you should get inexpensive contemporary furniture that is going to last for a long time.

Some Tips And Tricks In Finding Inexpensive Contemporary Furniture

A lot of us are looking for new furniture from time to time, and if you are like me you are constantly looking for great deals. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t find what you are looking for the first time you go looking, it is better that way – you won’t buy too quickly and end up noticing that the same or similar piece is sold in the store next to that one, with half the price. That has happened to me quite a few times, and that is why I have learnt to keep a note pad with me and write down the prices and names of the products and go look elsewhere.

So what I do is if I see a great looking black contemporary sofa that I like, I write in my notepad “black contemporary sofa, leather, $899″. So when I go to another shop and I see another similar piece I can look in my notepad and be sure that I am not overpaying for a similar item. This method has saved me quite a lot of money on the past and I am sure it will keep on doing so in the future.

Not all of us have a big kitchen but either way we are going to need to get it working. There are a lot of people who want to have a modern kitchen but don’t have the money to get it, well with a small kitchen you are already having a better chance of getting what you want since there is not that much that needs to be bought due to the small size of the room. If you want to really save money then you should do your shopping in places like IKEA and Pier 1 Imports which usually boast a great selection of modern furniture with reasonable prices.

For a smaller kitchen you are going to need those small sized appliances. You need to try to save all the table space there is and that is why you need to get the malles toaster, coffee maker and a blender there are. Don’t worry you won’t need to go and find them from the kids section, but there are a lot of models that are smaller than the biggest ones, without the actual functional size of the appliance getting much smaller. Also you shoud try to find a place for your microwave that takes is away from the table.

Going with light colors can make your kitchen look bigger and that is something you should try. In a small closet for a kitchen there is no reason for going with black since it will give an even smaller look. Try choosing white and colors that match with it. Also going with cabinet doors which have see through glass, will make the space look bigger.

One of the first steps to green furniture is to use timber in the structure that originates from a sustainable forest.  You no longer come across those unusual woods used that derive from the rainforest, as a substitute these woods are located in areas governed by silviculture methods.  For each tree taken, one more is either planted or left to develop to full maturity.

Second, is the use of safe glues.  A lot of sorts of glue, especially used in imported furniture, off gas formaldehydes and different air-borne chemicals into the house or neighboring area.  By using safe adhesives, environmentally friendly manufactures give their customers furniture which can be eaten off of securely and give off no off-gasses in their homes.

The third phase to ecological furnishings is the texture.  A lot of chemicals are used in lacquers, varnishes along with alternative techniques of concluding a furnishings piece.  By using FDA accepted oil and water based finishes, sea green builders ensure the safety of the wood surfaces.

A Futon Sofa Can Spice Up Your Living Room

Posted by cheapcontemporaryfurniture in September 8, 2009

When it comes to futon the Japanese started it. They had beds which were basically just matresses on the floor and it progressed to all their furniture. You have probably seen those movies where there are images from a Japanese home – everything seems like they are on the floor. Well that evolved in to something that the American are now calling futon.

Basically when you get a futon sofa you are going to get a sofa that is a sofa at day, and can easily be converted to a bed at night. There are a lot of people searching for cheap sofa beds and if you are one of those, and want to make it happen contemporary, then checking out futon sofas can be your choice. That is great if you are usually having friends over the night  and you don’t want to offer them just the sofa or a crappy inflatable bed.

The mattress is stuffed with cotton and that is why it is usually quite tolerated and people who get allergic reactions from synthetic fibers can usually sleep quite well on a futon. You should not worry about this if you get a high quality futon, but with the more affordable ones you should pay attention to the quality, and ask the vendor what is used to make it.

Choosing Colors For Your Living Room

Posted by cheapcontemporaryfurniture in September 7, 2009

When you are going to redecorate your living room you should start with the colors first. Many people struggle with their choises when it comes to imitating a contemporary design and I have not basically understood what is the problem. The easiest way to go is to use different shades of the same color.

When you need to save money while doing this, you should start with picking up your favourite piece of furniture. I would go with the sofa since you can’t usually change the color of your sofa without spending a lot of money. If you are wililng to buy some new furniture then I suggest you get a new sofa. Pick the color you like and use that on the rest of your furniture. The rule of thumb being that the smaller the furniture, the more the color should differ from the color of your biggest piece of furniture.

If you already have a lot of metallic/chrome furniture, you are going to save yourself a lot of trouble. All of the wooden furniture can be painted to match the sofa. If the sofa is of a dark color I suggest you to to choose a light color for the walls. If you have a light colored sofe, then paint one wall (the wall where you are going to place the sofa) to as dark of a shade of that color. It will accentuate the beautiful color you pciked for the sofa.
